HIT CTV ORIGINAL DAYTIME SERIES "THE SOCIAL" BROUGHT TO U.S. SYNDICATION IN 2014

Los Angeles - October 16, 2013 - PPI Releasing is set to bring the new hit daytime talk series “The Social” to US syndication in 2014. The panel talk show produced by Bell Media In-House Productions premiered on CTV this September.

“The popularity of panel talk-shows has sky-rocketed as both viewers and stations appreciate their diversity, breadth of subject matter and entertainment”, said PPI principal, Ritch Colbert, adding, “In ‘The Social’, we’ve got a proven format that could be the next talk panel hit in syndication.”

“The Social” is a network panel talk show featuring four female co-hosts who delve into the topics that matter most to viewers. Packed with opinions and hilarious exchanges with no subject off limits, the co-hosts bring a fresh and current perspective on up-to-the-minute news, pop culture, and lifestyle topics relevant to daytime audiences. The series integrates social media networks including Twitter and Facebook into each episode in a ground-breaking fashion, allowing viewers to join the conversation, while also providing unique opportunities for advertisers. Airing on CTV, Canada’s most-watched television network, since September, 2013, “The Social” has been a runaway hit, amassing young female audiences and out-performing popular American talk series, “The Chew” and “Bethenny”. “The Social” co-hosts include news anchor Melissa Grelo, relationship expert and life coach Cynthia Loyst, internationally known gossip blogger Lainey Lui, and entertainment reporter Traci Melchor..

“’The Social’ comes to the market in full stride by the time it reaches syndication,” added PPI’s Josh Raphaelson. “We know - and our broadcast partners know – what we are getting. And it is a winner.”

PPI is offering the day-and-date series as a Monday-Friday strip to debut in broadcast syndication in Fall 2014, although discussions are also underway on a potential a mid-season launch as early as January 2014. The series is sold on a cash plus barter basis, with over 200 original episodes, a first for any first-run talk show launched in the last decade.

“By 2014, we’ll have produced well over 200 episodes,” said Rick Brace, President, Specialty Channels and CTV Production. “We’ve created an engaging series that is resonating with Canadian viewers, and can launch in the US next year with a solid foundation.”
